Who feels overwhelmed?

How are you feeling today? Chances are you might be stressed as the pandemic picks up again yet yesterday was supposed to be freedom day.

As the unofficial excess death toll in India could exceed four million we wonder when and if the way of life we used to know can return.

Germany’s floods seem unpredicted in a country we consider super – efficient while the US north west Pacific states struggle with heat and fire.

When my browser seemed to unexpectedly redirect me from Google Search to its sustainability plans I felt some reassurance. Google has been carbon neutral since 2007. Yesterday’s news on the Amazon rainforest being a carbon producer rather than absorber highlights how the scales of probability are weighted increasingly towards climate destruction so Google’s policies towards being carbon – free inspire. Into its second decade operating all energy consumption sustainably and it seems confident to reach its target of being carbon free by 2030.

This is serious and to read their approach creates confidence we can sort this out, we all try to reduce our plastic use, consider a sustainable energy supplier and recycle but the big guns in corporate society have to lead the way.

Google went carbon neutral 2007 and you can view some of my earlier work here

The Rainforest

The forest drips and glows with green.
The tree - frog croaks his far - off song.
His voice is stillness, moss and rain
drunk from the forest ages long.

We cannot understand that call
unless we move into his dream,
where all is one and one is all
and frog and python are the same.

We with our quick dividing eyes
measure, distinguish and are gone.
The forest burns, the tree - frog dies,
yet one is all and all is one.
