Expert Carillon historian featured on last night’s local TV news to give talk.
Mel Gould who featured on last night’s local evening news in commemoration of one hundred years of Loughborough’s war memorial the Carillon is to give a public talk.
At St Mary’s Hall, Brookside, East Leake how the idea of a carillon as a war memorial came about will be revealed by Mr Gould.

Not initially a popular choice the local historian will tell the tale of how the supporters of the project won the day. with a simple but crafty method.
“Why did both Queen Alexandra and Winston Churchill donate towards a bell tower in a market town in the Midlands?” he questions.
Mr Gould also asks: “Why did Nellie Melba attend the opening ceremony a century ago?” at the illustrated talk on Monday February 20; promising to reveal all the answers to your questions.
